Fury (Mercy #4)

Author(s): Rebecca Lim

Young Adult Fiction (Ages 13+)

The cataclysmic finale to the MERCY series...Mercy and Ryan, narrowly escaping two demons in the cathedral at Milan, are on the run. Mercy reveals to Ryan more about her past, her sadness over the death of K'el and the titanic struggle between the Eight and their nemesis, Luc, for control of her soul that has been waged over millennia. Ryan, too, has secrets to reveal, and they acknowledge the strength of their love for each other. But Mercy knows from the tragedy of the nephilim - half human, half angelic - that humans and angels must never be allowed to mix. And in order to put an end to Luc's plans to annihilate mankind, she realizes she must return to her celestial home. Before she can do this, she receives an urgent plea for help from her closest friend, Nuriel, asking her to search for and free the members of the Eight who have been taken prisoner by Luc, condemned to remain for eternity in various 'hot spots' around the world. Nuriel has more to tell Mercy: the wave of seismic disasters currently rocking the world are the work of Luc and his demonic hordes, and it is not until Michael, chief amongst the Eight, is found, that there will be a chance to defeat Luc and save the world. Mercy must stay on earth to see it done. Accompanied by the remaining members of the Eight, shape-shifting constantly to stay one step ahead of their pursuers, Mercy and Ryan embark on a global rescue mission which reaches its end at Paradise, Ryan's home town. Here Luc makes his ultimate demand - he will set Raphael free, if Mercy is handed over to him. Meanwhile Raphael, who has always loved Mercy, confesses his love to her, the extent to which he went to take her from Luc, and his responsibility for the disastrous consequences. And Azraeil, the angel of Death compels her to make an even greater decision if Luc is defeated. She must choose, not only between the two sides of the angelic conflict, but whether she wants to remain an angel at all ...
